Kudalumping (Horse Dance of Java)
Suitable for schools or outdoor festivals, including possible
input to processions
In this highly unusual workshop children learn to make a
simple horse out of a piece of rattan, some cardboard and
string, and then learn the very easy yet dynamic movement
patterns of the horse dance.
Meanwhile they also work with a musician, to learn musical
rhythms from Java on basic percussion instruments and accompany
the resulting horse dance!
This workshop can also be presented with reference to the
show The Worm That Squirmed
which includes some horse dance.
